Windows - Set default program for file types
Whenever you install a different version of a CC app on Windows, the install overwrites the default open associations with it's applicable file types.
My request is to have a way to control/prevent this from happening. It could be achieved in a couple of ways.
1) At the point of install ASK if I want to overwrite this setting!
2) Provide an option when you - right click on an app/hover over it in the list/click on the ellipses - to set this version of the application as the default.
Changing these settings in Windows is becoming harder to do especially when multiple versions of the same program override the default program install location as is the case with Adobe CC apps, thus making it impossible to choose the preferred application via Windows embedded 'Open with' function.
Case in point - I installed the Beta version of Illustrator to sample the new 3D features and provide feedback. Now whenever I try to open an AI/AIT file from explorer it defaults to the Beta version. Who in their right mind would want that type of behaviour when working in a production environment? The only reliable fix available to me is to uninstall Ai2021 and reinstall it so that it captures the active directory and becomes associated with the files.
It's not just Illustrator, I have experienced the same with Photoshop and InDesign where I like to retain past versions due to plugins/scripts that I run.
Please fix this behaviour ... thanks!
